How to trade, step by step

Not the official SkinsMonkey website

What to prepare in Steam, how the trade screen works, and what to check in the final Steam offer before you accept.

Key facts

  • You need Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, a public profile and inventory, Steam level 2+ and your trade URL.
  • SkinsMonkey's bots send you the offer. You confirm it in Steam.
  • SkinsMonkey says its bots never change an offer once the trade has started.

Set up your Steam account

SkinsMonkey lists four things a trading account needs. Sort these first, because a trade cannot start without them.

  1. Turn on Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator. Install the Steam app and enable the authenticator. Without it, Steam puts trades on hold for days.
  2. Make your profile and inventory public. In Steam, open Edit Profile → Privacy Settings and set My profile and Inventory to Public.
  3. Reach Steam level 2. SkinsMonkey asks for at least level 2. Crafting a badge or finishing a few community tasks earns the needed XP.
  4. Copy your trade URL. In Steam, open Inventory → Trade Offers → Who can send me Trade Offers? and copy the trade URL at the bottom. Bots use it to send you offers.

Your trade URL lets anyone send you offers, but it gives no access to your items. Your password, Steam Guard codes and API key are different: never paste them into a website or a chat.

Open the real site

Type skinsmonkey.com yourself or use a bookmark. Do not follow links from chat messages, comments or giveaway posts. When you sign in, Steam's own login page opens on steamcommunity.com. If any other address asks for your Steam password, close it. The Safety chapter shows how fake login windows work.

Read the trade screen

The trading page has two halves:

  • You offer (left): items from your Steam inventory that you are willing to give.
  • You receive (right): the site's stock. Use search and filters for weapon, wear, float range and price.

Under the trade button, the site shows the difference between the two sides. If you receive more than you offer, the difference comes from your SkinsMonkey balance, so you need enough balance to cover it.

Check the exact item

Two items with the same name can be worth very different amounts. Before you add one, open its details and check:

  • Wear and float: Factory New, Minimal Wear and so on, plus the exact float value.
  • StatTrak™ or Souvenir: these are separate versions with separate prices.
  • Pattern or phase: some finishes depend on the pattern seed or Doppler phase.
  • Stickers: their position and condition. SkinsMonkey says it does not pay extra for stickers or float.
  • Trade lock: a locked item goes to your Backpack first. See Trade lock.

Send and confirm the trade

  1. Click to trade. A window shows your order with the status Sending while a bot prepares the offer.
  2. Choose how to accept. When the status changes to Accept, open the offer in your browser or the Steam app.
  3. Compare the Steam offer with your order. Check every item on both sides. It must match what you picked, item for item.
  4. Confirm contents, then accept. Click Confirm trade contents, then Accept Trade, and approve it in the Steam mobile app.
  5. Check the result. Steam shows Trade Completed and the order on SkinsMonkey changes to Accepted.

If you see two offers and the first was cancelled, stop. SkinsMonkey says its bots do not cancel and resend offers. This is the API scam pattern described in the Safety chapter.

After the trade

  • Items you received are under Steam Trade Protection for 7 days. You can use them in game but cannot trade or sell them yet.
  • Locked items you bought wait in the Backpack on SkinsMonkey until you can withdraw them.
  • Leftover value stays as SkinsMonkey balance. It is not money you can withdraw.
